What makes Aul Magic+/ so special?

Aul Magic+/ has proven himself to be a world class Arabian Sport Horse. Warmblood fans have described him as looking like "a small warmblood with a pretty head." He has three excellent gaits, with tremendous freedom of shoulder movement, length of stride, impulsion and suspension. His brilliant copper chestnut coat and flashy white markings, along with his intelligence, superior work ethic, and loving disposition  make him unforgettable.

How was Aul Magic+/ trained to move like that?

Aul Magic's movement is natural, not artificially created. He was purposely bred to move the way he does. Aul Magic+/ was bred by Sandy Warren (who also bred his sire, Aulrab).  To genetically concentrate the flashy action for which his sire was famous, Sandy bred Aulrab to his half-sister, Magic Alarieha (*Lewisfield Magic x Alarieha). Sandy attributes Alarieha with responsibility for much of Aulrab's spectacular trot. By concentrating this blood, she hoped to perpetuate the oustanding movement of Aurab and Alarieha. The result was spectacular -  Aul Magic+/.

What is "Pedigree Power"?

Aul Magic+/ is the sum of his pedigree, which is a concentration of athletic Arabian horses. He is from the *Nasik sireline. *Nasik was a Crabbet stallion who achieved great fame at the W. K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Ranch for his spectacular trot.

Author Carol Mulder wrote that Aul Magic's sire, Aulrab, had "overall brilliance, and just radiates sparkle and presence." His trot was electrifying.

Aulrab's sire, Aurab, was a Park and Formal Driving champion. Lady Anne Lytton (daughter of Lady Wentworth and granddaughter of Lady Anne Blunt of the Crabbet Stud of England) declared him to be the most nearly perfect Arabian she had ever seen and said that he represented the type and quality that the Crabbet Stud tried to breed for 100 years, but never achieved to such a degree.

Aul Magic's dam, Magic Alarieha, is a daughter of *Lewisfield Magic, a  stallion of mostly Crabbet bloodlines who was imported from England. *Lewisfield Magic was U.S. National Champion Western Pleasure Horse as well as a champion in halter, Park, English Pleasure, and Pleasure Driving.

Aul Magic+/ is a pure-in-strain Seglawi Jedran. He traces in the tail female line to the Crabbet foundation mare, Basilisk, among whose descendants was the stallion *Berk, also known for his wonderful movement.

Of Noble Heritage

Aul Magic+/ is reminiscent in type to the early Crabbet Arabians, bred by Wilfrid and Lady Anne Blunt. One admirer said that looking at Aul Magic+/ was like stepping back in time. He bears a striking resemblance to photos of Mesaoud, to whom he has more than 300 crosses.  He has only two lines to Lady Wentworth's stallion Skowronek (through Naseem, via Abu Farwa). This makes him an excellent outcross for mares of *Raffles and *Raseyn lines, as well as a good choice for mares with outcrossed pedigrees of other lines. Aul Magic+/ is popular with owners of mares of several other breeds, but he is particularly treasured by those who admire "old style" Arabians with "old fashioned pedigrees," of which he is a shining example. May his light shine forth forever!
